2nd Annual Wigwood Queer Festival
The second-annual Wigwood Queer Festival returned to Miami for a weekend of live performances, local vendors, panels, and a place to party in a safe, inclusive space. Friday night kicked off at the Scottish Rite Temple downtown featuring major headliners Thorgy of RuPaul's Drag Race, Victoria Elizabeth Black of Dragula, Sateen, Evah Destruction, Imp Queen, and a perfomance from local icon Queef Latina. Saturday night returned to Gramps Wynwood for a lineup of Miami's finest including Miss Toto, Jupiter Velvet, Dang-ho Yu Sickning, Poorgrrrl, and many others. Here is a collection of the best creatures we ran into all weekend. Shot for Miami New Times.
Wigwood Queer Fest / Gramps
The first-ever Wigwood queer festival invaded Gramps on Saturday, February 4, with an eccentric lineup of local queens, visiting acts from New York and L.A., plus music, panel discussions and a live auction. The all-day affair filled the bar, patio, and back stage room to comfortable capacity with a glittery mix of platform shoes and gender fluid characters drinking and dancing between rowdy sets of performances. People Watching @ Calle Ocho Carnaval
Calle Ocho was loud and colorful for Carnaval on Sunday, March 13.
I spent the sweltering afternoon weaving between vendors and stages, people watching on the clogged stretch of blocked off street. These are a few of my favorite characters I ran into. Slideshow for Miami New Times.
