Pride Parade / Ocean Drive
Miami Beach celebrated gay pride all weekend leading up to the official Pride Parade on South Beach's iconic stretch Sunday afternoon, April 8. Patrons lined both sides of Ocean Drive from 5th to 15th streets as floats, skating queens and flamboyant attendees celebrated queer love and culture. Shot for Miami New Times.
2nd Annual Wigwood Queer Festival
The second-annual Wigwood Queer Festival returned to Miami for a weekend of live performances, local vendors, panels, and a place to party in a safe, inclusive space. Friday night kicked off at the Scottish Rite Temple downtown featuring major headliners Thorgy of RuPaul's Drag Race, Victoria Elizabeth Black of Dragula, Sateen, Evah Destruction, Imp Queen, and a perfomance from local icon Queef Latina. Saturday night returned to Gramps Wynwood for a lineup of Miami's finest including Miss Toto, Jupiter Velvet, Dang-ho Yu Sickning, Poorgrrrl, and many others. Flaming Classics x Secret Celluloid Society
On Sunday, September 3, Flaming Classics and Secret Celluloid Society secured a floating screen to the outdoor pool at the University of Miami for two, back-to-back 35mm screenings of Disney's classic The Little Mermaid. Both shows featured wet, live drag performances beforehand by local queens Miss Toto and Persephone Von Lips as Ursula and Ariel.
