November Art Walk

Wynwood was the emptiest I've ever seen it on Art Walk. Mana closed everything down because of the thunderstorms, which surprised me, I thought this city knew how to handle a little rain.... More people started trickling onto NW 2nd Ave as it got later in the night, but it was a pretty desolate compared to the usual crowd. I took out my flash and had more of an intimate experience photographing people I ran into. Slideshow for Miami New Times.

Color Run @ Sun Life Stadium

The Color Run 5k returned to Miami this year at Sun Life Stadium on Saturday morning, November 14. Runners weaved through a winding course outside half the stadium, dusted with brightly colored pigments every 1k. It was hot and muggy as the race started, but shortly after dark clouds rolled in and brought a cool, refreshing drizzle with them. Most runners finished in under an hour and were handed personal packets of powder at the finish line to throw at the celebration. Slideshow for Miami New Times.

Young Artist Initiative @ Cafeina

The Young Artist Initiative brought its monthly preview of local artists to Cafeina Wynwood on Friday, October 23. The party popped off earlier in the evening this month with music and the first live painting session starting at 7 p.m. - the patio was packed before 10 (which is an impressive feat for a city that's notoriously late to everything) and didn't start winding down until after 1 a.m. Over 1200 people trickled in to drink, dance, and enjoy the craft of some of Miami's up and coming audio and visual artists. Animate Miami

Animate! Miami con flooded the Miami Airport Convention Center with an eccentric collection of characters decked out in full costume a week before Halloween. I had a great time people watching and photographing the best personalities who passed by - it's hard to pick favorites, but Zombie Jesus Christ may take the win. Slideshow for Miami New Times.
