Floatopia
Floatopia was a hot mess this year. I've never seen Miami Beach so congested on a Saturday afternoon. Parking was a nightmare, and patrons left the beach completely trashed - there were so many floats and empty alcohol bottles it was hard to see sand. Windy weather blew in unusually choppy waves, which only added to the chaos of the sloppy crowd. Slideshow for Miami New Times.
Miami Beach Gay Pride
Miami's LGBT community gathered along Ocean Drive on Sunday, April 10 to celebrate free sexuality & gay pride. The city's official parade ran from 12-2 p.m., then the partying continued throughout the afternoon on the beach and street-side restaurants & bars. Slideshows for Miami New Times.

Baauer @ The Hangar
Baauer threw down Saturday night for a hungry crowd at The Hangar. This was my first time shooting at the downtown venue on NE 11th, and it was the most fun I've had at a club show in a while. The space wasn't packed too tightly, even by the time Baauer came on shortly after 1:30 a.m. He kept the room rowdy, bouncing, and begging for more. Slideshow for Miami New Times.
Music @ Calle Ocho Carnaval
Calle Ocho was loud and colorful for Carnaval on Sunday, March 13.
Along with countless street performers, the organized musical acts included Fuego, J. Quiles, Miss Yaya, Oro Solido, Chino y Nacho, Archangel, Carlos Manuel, Laura Flores, and the "King of Carnaval" himself: Andy Garcia with a full band. Slideshow for Miami New Times.
Young Artist Initiative @ Cafeina
The Young Artist Initiative returned to Cafeina on March 4 for another evening showcase of local Miami music and live art. This month felt less crowded and more music-centric with a lineup including multiple bands, spoken word, live brass and a bongo accompanying Coco FM's upbeat, funky dj sets. Multiple artists - including Tiago Magro, ATOMIK, Cynthia Fleischmann & David de Fex - painted original pieces over the course of the night as the crowd meandered through the outside patio and adjacent dance halls.
