Bearded Villains Miami / World Meet
On Saturday, August 12, the Miami Chapter of Bearded Villains — a philanthropic organization with some serious facial hair — hosted a world meet at Wynwood Café. National and international members hailing from places like Puerto Rico, the UK, and Colombia, came together to drink local brews, award the best styled and natural beards, and raise proceeds for Behavior Links, a nonprofit that helps children with disabilities in orphanages worldwide. Catwalk: A Night of Vogue
A small warehouse in Little Haiti brimmed at capacity late Saturday night, June 24, for Catwalk: A Night of Vogue featuring fierce competition of voguing, realness, death drops and serving face for a lit audience of spectators on a taped off runway. Counter Corner / 1306
Miami's favorite monthly queer party, Counter Corner, celebrated its move from the Corner Bar to 1306 on Sunday, June 18, with another wild edition of contemporary drag for a packed house. Hosted by Hialeah's Finest, Juleisy y Karla, the night featured performances from a variety of local queens, including Queef Latina, the freshly crowned New Times 2017 Readers' Choice for Best Drag Queen. Roller Disco / Faena Forum
Sunday, June 11, Second Sundays at Faena Forum premiered its new installation ángeles veloces arcanos fugaces by assume vivid astro focus with a '70s-style roller disco free and open to the public featuring projection visuals and funky jams spun live by local DJ Dude Skywalker. Skaters of all ages enjoyed an afternoon of colorful ambiance, cocktails, snacks, and games in the rink. Second Sundays will take place the second Sunday each month this summer.
