SuperSaturated @ Young at Art Museum
Young at Art's SuperSaturated Fundraiser on Friday, April 27, featured a lineup of live music and immersive art installations engulfing the museum's 2,400-square-foot space. Local artists Sleeper Speaks, Haiiileen, Milagros Collective, Lo Castro, David Anasagasti, and Katerina Friderici among others created visual backdrops for the sounds of Lolo Reskin, Écraer, Mo'Booty, OgeeE, Karoshi, and Atoma. Record Store Day @ Technique & Sweat Records
Miami celebrated Record Store Day and the pop and crackle of vinyl all day Saturday, April 21. Local shops like Technique and Sweat Records opened early to allow patrons to peruse their collections and hear a live mix of analog sounds. Diplo made an appearance at Technique Records late afternoon to sign copies of his new album California which dropped about a month ago. Shot for Miami New Times.
III Joints 420 Party @ The Anderson
III Points' annual 4/20 party returned to The Anderson for another night of smoking heavy to hip-hop beats. Vendors like Miami's stoner brand Roll White Boys offered patrons rolling trays and papers while they enjoyed the sounds of local and touring acts Suzi Analogue, Paperwater, Space Invaders Soundsystem, Nick León, Richie Hell, Yazmine, Ynot, Gami, True Vine, Get Face, Poorgrrrl and Byrdipop, Cricket, and Will Buck. The night led up to RZA's live score of The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, the classic kung fu movie instrumental to the Wu-Tang Clan. Shot for Miami New Times.
Pride Parade / Ocean Drive
Miami Beach celebrated gay pride all weekend leading up to the official Pride Parade on South Beach's iconic stretch Sunday afternoon, April 8. Patrons lined both sides of Ocean Drive from 5th to 15th streets as floats, skating queens and flamboyant attendees celebrated queer love and culture. Shot for Miami New Times.
