"This is Not Art" / Basel x Haiiileen
On Friday, December 3, III Points continued its Art Basel event series with German record label Diynamic. Haiiileen's erotic "This Is Not Art" performance was dark, aggressive, and left the neon confines of her Sunset @ Noon installation to continue into the crowd. Slideshow for Miami New Times.
James Blake + 1-800 Dinosaur Crew
III Points kicked off its Art Basel concert series on Wednesday, Nov 30 with James Blake + the 1-800 Dinosaur Crew at Magic City Studies. The dim, smoky warehouse vibrated with an alternating set of funky vinyl jams and deep house. Mokibaby's stacked TV installation stood on a riser in the middle of the floor, and Haiiileen's three sparkly, paint-splattered Neon @ Sunset rooms created windows into her glowing, geometric, mannequin-filled dream world. Trump Protest / Miami
Miami protestors met in front of Bayfront Park downtown on Friday evening, November 11, to protest the presidential election of Donald Trump. The crowd gained momentum as it marched north on Biscayne Blvd, then veered east on I-395 where it held traffic both ways for about an hour with help from the Miami Police. The protest grew to a few thousand people at it's peak but remained organized, passionate and peaceful.
Art + People / III Points
The interactive art & installations at III Points are what make this festival so unique and exciting to come back to each year. Despite all the production complications from Hurricane Matthew, the III Points crew still managed to create an immersive audio-visual experience largely infused with projection visuals and appropriated video loops.
