PIG 9 Pork is Good Festival
Jeremiah Bullfrog's annual Pork Is Good Festival returned to Little Haiti Cultural Center on Sunday, November 4, for an afternoon of awesome eats featuring pork delicacies from a collection of Miami's favorite restaurants. This year's chefs included Ms. Cheezious' Brian Mullins, Ghee's Niven Patel, Coyo Taco's Scott Linquist, Mandolin's Roel Alcudia, and Pubbelly's Jose Mendin with cocktails by mixologist David Cedeno. Zombie Prom @ 1306
Downtown nightclub 1306 oozed with creatures late Friday night, October 12, for Zombie Prom, a dance for the undead. The Bermuda Triangle family presented Lamebot, the Galactic Effect, and local favorite vampire Otto Von Schirach to perform music and rituals for a live monster audience.
Swetboxx @ C&L Trading
Red Bull Music created a warehouse boiler room out of C&L Trading for Swetboxx on Friday, October 5. Hosted by local queer icons Queef Latina, Miss Toto, and Gami, the lineup featured fierce headliners Quay Dash, Discwoman, Papi Juice, and NAAFI alongside Miami's own Internet Friends, Fempower, and Get Face. Sets were broken up by performances from local queens, including Persephone Von Lips, Jupiter Velvet, Andro Gin, King Femme, Opulence Queen, and Mthr Trsa. Visual artists Haileen, Mokibaby, Sleeper Speaks, and Covl created glowing installations for the humid, high-energy space. Shot for Red Bull Music.
Gender Blender @ Las Rosas
The September edition of Miami's favorite queer punk party, Gender Blender, took over Las Rosas Sunday night, September 23 for a lineup of rowdy live rock and experimental drag. Pigface and the Destroyers defiled the stage between performances from Kunst and Florida Man. For a $2 fee, patrons could purchase a hand-written fortune from a live teller boxed by the back bar. Charli XCX Femmebot Fantasy @ 1306 Miami
Charli XCX, Dorian Electra, Internet Friends, and This Free Life threw an electrifying party - Femmebot Fantasy - at 1306 on Saturday, August 18. The high-energy set featured performances from Ceci G, Banoffee, Basside, Dorian Electra, and Charli XCX, followed by a legendary lineup of local queens including Miss Toto, Queef Latina, Kat Wilderness, and Jupiter Velvet. Janelle Monae @ The Fillmore Miami Beach
Still hot off the April release of her concept album, Dirty Computer, Janelle Monáe brought an explosive show to the Fillmore Miami Beach on Friday, July 27.
