#BlackLivesMatter Protest

After a heavy week of national tragedy, Miami came together Saturday, July 9, to protest and march against police brutality and gun violence. A crowd of all ages and races slowly formed in front of the Wynwood Walls starting at 6 p.m. People brought signs and stood peacefully in protest for an hour, occasionally chanting phrases in unison like "Hands up, guns down" and "No justice, no peace, no violent police" before marching around Wynwood and then all the way down to Bayside and back. The congregation started accumulating momentum as it moved downtown, proudly engulfing half the street and eventually Biscayne Boulevard. Slideshow for Miami New Times.
